The Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECE) developed from the division of Electronics Engineering into two new departments. The focus of ECE department is within the areas encompassing computer systems and communication systems, computer networks, and the signal processing necessary to analyse, model, process, code, transmit and decode multimedia data travelling over fixed and wireless networks. The Department has a major contribution in the B.Eng. Computer Engineering and B.Eng. Electronic Telecommunication four-year undergraduate degree programmes. It is also the main contributor to the M.Eng. in Electronis Engineering in two-year Master programme. Moreover it offers supervision to Ph.D. candidates in the research areas its academic staff.
Some of the academic staff of the ECE department hold a Ph.D. including three Associate Professors in one of the fields that fall under the responsibility of the Department and are all active in research. This ensures that students following a course with the Department are supplied with the best knowledge necessary for their career.
