1. FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Integrated Circuit Design Laboratory is one of the first and the best-equipped laboratory in the faculty of Electric-Electronic Engineering. The LAB supports students a professional environment to verify theories and skills of digital IC Design.

The LAB includes a variety of generations of kits and devices that satisfy numerous requirements from learners. In general, the Cool runner I CPLDs, Cool runner II CPLDs, Nexsys 2, Nexsys 3 kits are FPGA devices which can be useful for training students in designing digital ICs. Moreover, this LAB has some advanced kits which support for undergraduate students in their research related to IC development fields, such as DE2i-150 kits. This Lab also has various books associated with the field of digital IC system design for students to improve their knowledge.

Currently, with the combination of the two most advantages that are the strongly priority of government in IC technologies and the supports from the famous sponsors, the LAB has been always updating the teaching methods and the device technologies to meet the continuous development in IC technologies.

3. FUNCTIONS
- Train the skills of designing IC using HDL for students so as to be able to adapt the real working environments;
- Assist undergraduate and graduate students in their researches related to the field of digital IC Design;
- Assist the lectures the convenient working areas in researching and compiling lesson plans.
- Train the labors from IC Design companies according to the outside requirement;
- Research the new methods and systems to apply in industrial chains and civil fields;
- Cooperate with IC Design companies to complete the researching the new products;

4. PRACTICAL LESSONS
    - Instruction to the usage of NEXYS2 SPARTAN – 3E kit: The lesson introduce the layout of laboratory kit which is used throughout the course.
    - Introduction to the usage of the ISE Design Suite 14.5 in programming digital circuits using VHDL: The lesson instructs students steps using software to edit VHDL program and compile to hardware structures.
    - Design combinational circuits using VHDL: Some simple digital combinational circuits designed by logic gates are now completed in VHDL program. Students also realize the advantages when applying VHDL to design digital systems.
    - Design sequential circuits 1: Some simple digital counters, such as BCD, Johnson, left shifter, right shifter are designed, and their applications are also pointed out in the lesson.
    - Design sequential circuits 2: By applying simple counters, other advanced counters, which are timer counters, up-down counters,  are design to display in LCD or 7 Segment LED.
    - Design advance interfacing ICs: Other larger digital systems used to implement in one-wire and serial data transmissions are also designed in detail.
